My name is Danny and I did time with TQ back in 2014. Same yard, same routines, same conversations about getting home and doing better.



The difference is… I made it home. But TQ is still there.

 I need to take a moment to share something that has overwhelmed me with pride and emotion.

My brother, Taquarius Ford, just published a 4-book children's series that the world desperately needed.


The GWiz Series speaks directly to the 2.7 million children in America living with an incarcerated parent. These kids have been largely invisible in children's literature. Publishers haven't prioritized their stories. But Taquarius saw them. He remembered them. And he wrote books to help them navigate the pain, confusion, and hope that comes with having a parent behind bars.

I just left Ft. Dix after spending a truly good day with Taquarius. 

There are visits that drain you… and then there are visits that fill you back up. Today was the second kind. 

We talked about God. About life, astrology and metaphysics. About how faith stretches beyond walls, time and circumstances. It was the kind of conversation that reminds you who a person really is, when everything else has been stripped away. 

We laughed too. Shared real cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory, because yes, they have the real thing in there, and he handled two slices like a champ. Small joys matter. Especially in places where joy is rationed. 

Before we left, we prayed together. Not rushed. Not performative. Just grounded, sincere prayer. I walked out feeling peace, gratitude, and love. 

Taquarius is strong. He’s thoughtful. He’s growing. He’s exactly who he’s always been at his core. 

But it’s time for him to come home. 

Time for his life to continue where it belongs. 

Time for this chapter to close. 

I believe. And I will keep showing up until freedom does too.
